Lonzo Ball's explanation for skipping Suns-Lakers fight

by

During the fourth quarter of Friday's game between the Suns and the Lakers, a shoving match between Tyler Ulis and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope broke out, which caused a temporary delay on the game.

Players from both teams rushed out to support their respective teammates but Lakers guard Lonzo Ball casually turned his back and walked toward the bench, which was heavily criticized on social media.

The Suns won 122-113 and after the game Ball justified his actions, dismissing the fight and claiming he was tried to avoid a technical foul.

"It's the NBA. People ain't really going to fight. I ain't trying to get no tech," Ball told reporters.

Unfortunately for him, not getting involved also cost him, but he had a point. Had he gotten involved, he might have picked up a technical foul and he possibly could have faced additional discipline and draw criticism from fans and the media.

The problem is that him not getting involved also bothered people. It's tough being a rookie in the NBA, especially when you're struggling on the court and your father can't keep his mouth shut.
